We are looking for an experienced IT Officer to join our Head Office team in Athens.

The successful candidate should have:

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related field or a Masters’ degree in Maritime/Shipping/Economics/Business Management/Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related field.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in similar position or as an IT Assistant (one (1) year of experience, preferably within the shipping industry).

 Desirable Skills & Knowledge:

  • Good understanding of Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365, backup solutions, and virtualization environments (e.g., VMware).
  • Strong working knowledge of major networking components, network operating systems and basic computer hardware components.
  • Basic knowledge of, SQL programming language.
  • Good working knowledge on Email Communications system.
  • Information Security knowledge.
  • Information Technology expertise.
  • Functional expertise with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and sustain good, cooperative relationships. Negotiation, planning and organisational skills.
  • Team worker and customer oriented.
  • Agile learner with a Growth mindset.

  • Very Good knowledge of the English language supported by evidence of professional experience and/or first certificate of proficiency in the English language as a minimum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring & following up, the purchase of IT equipment necessary for the operation and the maintenance of the vessels & the head office when replacing the IT Manager.
  • Demonstrating his commitment to safety and environmental excellence, by his behaviour.
  • Checking daily back-up of all company’s ERP systems, documents.
  • Checking the normal operation of office and vessels network and communication systems.
  • Maintaining, servicing and safeguarding physical security of the Company’s computer equipment and networks and keeping them free from viruses and Trojan horses.
  • Solving hardware and software problems of office and shipboard end users and arranging for necessary repairs.
  • Assisting office and shipboard users, promptly resolving any ICT-related issues.
  • Maintaining and updating company’s website when requested.
  • Maintaining and updating company’s Intranet site.
  • Familiarizing new employees and crew members on the network environment they are going to operate.
  • Ensures his/her awareness and compliance with all information security policies of the organisation relevant to his/her business role.
  • Reports any actual or potential security breaches.
  • Contributes to risk assessment where required.
  • Contributing to the promotion of Company’s vision, mission and ALMI’s Values and Behaviours and its communication externally as well as within the organisation.
  • If needed, visit company vessels to offer support, perform maintenance, or implement new technological solutions.
