We are looking for an experienced Crew Officer to join our Head Office team in Athens.

The successful candidate should have:

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Shipping/Economics/Business Management or Humanities related studies or a Class 3 Certificate of Competency (Deck Officer).
  • At least three (3) years in a similar position within a shipping company (preferably operating tankers).

Desirable Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of international maritime rules (ILO MLC/STCW), flag state regulations and TMSA3 requirements.
  • Good knowledge of the ISM Code and ISO standards.
  • Knowledge of maritime risk assessment and management.
  • Appreciation for the wellbeing of the seafarers and the living conditions on board vessels.
  • Very good administrative, organisational and planning skills.
  • Effective communicator and teamworker with an interest in building and sustaining relationships.
  • Cross-Cultural communication skills.
  • Agile Learner with a Growth Mindset.
  • Very good knowledge of the English language, supported by professional experience and/or a certificate in English language proficiency as a minimum.
  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the promotion of Company’s Purpose, Vision-Mission and Almi’s Values and Behaviours and its communication externally as well as within the organisation.
  • Successfully select, recruit, and plan the manning of the Company’s fleet in compliance with company standards and international regulations (ILO/STCW, flag state).
  • Contribute to maintaining a high retention rate of our present seafarers’ pool.
  • Ensure that the company’s IMS proper familiarisation procedures will be implemented for the seafarers.
  • Oversee crew administration and records, including personnel files, certifications, visas, and manning databases.
  • Handle crew-related operations and claims, coordinating with P&I Clubs, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Support crew performance, welfare, and retention through evaluations, promotions, and morale initiatives.
  • Monitor budgets, expenses, and departmental performance, including wages, invoices, KPIs, and reporting.
