From day one of its operations Almi Tankers S.A. has initiated environmental programs. As an active member of the well respected “Hellenic Marine Environmental Protection Association” (HELMEPA) the Almi Tankers S.A. team participated in the “International Coastal Clean Up” initiative by mobilizing municipalities, local schools and other organisations for the cleaning of a beach in Loukisia-Chalkida in Greece. The cleaning took place on October 11th 2009 with the participation of 74 people.
This event enabled the Almi Tankers S.A. team to practice the company’s environmental objectives by increasing the environmental awareness not only of its employees but also of the local communities. In addition Almi Tankers S.A. through the event supported the environmental research of HELMEPA by collecting statistics and sharing data of the marine environment pollution.
The event would not have been such a success if Almi Tankers S.A. had not received the full support of the following bodies and organizations:
– Municipality of Chaidari (Mr. Maravelias, Mr. Theodorakopoulos, Mr. Kentris and Mr. Papathanasiou)
– Municipality of Athidones and its Cultural Association
– STOP AEBE (providing excellent quality PPE for the participants)
