Almi Tankers S.A. is excited to announce the opening of the company’s newbuilding office with DSME in Korea.
The newbuilding manager, Mr. Vasilis Kallipolitis, flew to Korea last week in order to establish the site office and has been working hard to ensure that the implementation of the newbuilding programme gets off to the best possible start. He will soon be reinforced by two other members of the team who will leave in the coming weeks.
To celebrate the opening an event was held at the new office, which was attended by key DSME and Lloyds Register representatives.
All of the team at the head office and our colleagues at sea wish to congratulate Mr.Kallipolitis on the passing of this important milestone and we look forward to seeing the project develop further in close co-operation with our partners at DSME.
Shortly after the opening of the site office and in line with the planned schedule, the site manager oversaw the steel cutting of the first Suezmax. The event at DSME’s Okpo shipyard was also attended by representatives from Lloyds Register. From the outset, Almi Tankers has followed an ambitious newbuilding programme that will see the company’s fleet increase from two to fourteen vessels between December 2011 and December 2013. The ten Suezmax and two VLCCs, all DSME newbuildings, will help Almi Tankers realise its vision of growing into a reliable tanker management company characterised by its operational integrity.
