The ten Suezmax and two VLCCs, all DSME newbuildings, will help Almi Tankers realise its vision of growing into a reliable tanker management company characterised by its operational integrity.

Almi Tankers S.A. launches Total Crew Welfare programme

Almi Tankers’ newest initiative is focused on recognising and rewarding the efforts of the company’s seafarers.

Almi Tankers has always believed that people are a company’s most important resource. All members of the Almi Team, both sea and shore based, are highly valued by the company’s management. The personal qualities of dedication, spirit and integrity, which define our team members, are what set Almi Tankers aside as a truly innovative and forward thinking tanker vessel management company.
Almi Tankers S.A. was inspired by the IMO’s year of the seafarer in 2010 and the company believes that the momentum gained across the oil tanker industry last year in relation to seafarer welfare should not be left to subside.
As such, and in order to honour the efforts of our seafarers, Almi Tankers is excited to announce its new Total Crew Welfare initiative. This programme will seek to recognise the efforts and contribution made by our seafarers by introducing a system which focuses on the well-being of our colleagues at sea and their families at home. The initiative encompasses an improved working and living environment aboard as well as a structured career development programme, with several steps already having been taken.
Any seafarers that share our focus, goals and ideals and wish to contribute to a close team by taking up a career at sea with Almi Tankers S.A. are always welcome to send their CV to us by clicking on the “CAREER OPPORTUNITIES” tab above.

Almi Star completes Dry Dock and Special Survey

M/T Almi Star was recently dry docked in Brest, France where she successfully completed her first Special Survey. During the dry docking the vessel was extensively checked and her hull was cleaned and painted. Her systems and equipment were inspected, maintenance work was carried out and a number of upgrades were installed. Upgrades included the installation of Low Sulphur Gas Oil Feed Systems for the Main Engine, Diesel Generators and Auxiliary Boilers in order to ensure full and continuing compliance with all relevant environmental regulations. The systems for the Diesel Generators and Auxiliary Boilers were both commissioned and Class approved. The Almi Star was also upgraded with Fleet Broadband capability.

Almi Tankers S.A. achieves ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 accreditation by LRQA.

Almi Tankers S.A. is proud to announce that the company has been certified for compliance according to the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards, proof of Almi Tankers’ commitment to its core principle of operational integrity.
Following thorough external audits both at head office and onboard M/T Almi Star, Lloyds Register Quality Assurance presented Almi Tankers S.A. with the certifications at a ceremony at the Posidonia 2010 exhibition on the 10th of June.

The accreditations are internationally recognised awards that testify a company’s commitment to quality, as well as health, safety and environmental excellence. However, Almi Tankers S.A. did not seek the awards for marketing purposes. The company underwent the audit process in line with its ethos of continuous improvement, intentionally putting its management systems and processes under intense scrutiny in order to find areas that can be further enhanced. In the future, the company intends to continue to operate in the spirit of these qualifications and maintain the high standards that the industry requires. Almi Tankers S.A. is the first ship management company to gain these accreditations by LRQA in its first year of operations, and along with the company’s initiation of the Investors in People standard recognition process, Almi Tankers will continue to seek to establish itself as a leader in the fields of quality, health, safety and environmental excellence.

Although the certifications are awarded to Almi Tankers S.A., these prestigious qualifications have only been achieved through the diligent efforts and uncompromising standards of the company’s team, both ashore and at sea.

Further fleet expansion

Almi Tankers S.A. is to enter the Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) market with 2 newbuildings from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd (DSME). The 2 VLCCs, each with a total deadweight tonnage of 320,000 MT, are to join the Almi Tankers S.A. fleet in November and July 2013 respectively.
Along with the existing 2 Aframax LR2 vessels and the 10 Suezmax DSME newbuildings confirmed in 2009, the 2 VLCCs will further demonstrate the modern nature of our fleet, and will bring the average age of our vessels to just 1.07 years in 2013. This will make the Almi Tankers S.A. fleet one of the youngest in the industry.
The vessels were designed to satisfy all relevant regulations, both current and foreseeable, and with constant consideration for the needs of our clients and our environmental obligations as a company.
