On December 26th 2009 Almi Tankers S.A. took over the management of its first vessel, Almi Spirit, an LR2 fully coated aframax tanker. She had been purchased from the Teekay group in May 2009. For the following eight months her management had been entrusted to Teekay Shipping Limited. During this period, Almi Tankers S.A. made all necessary preparations and obtained all approvals, certifications and accreditations to be able to start managing oil tankers. Almi Spirit is a 2007 Hyundai Heavy Industries built fully coated aframax tanker flying the Liberian flag, classed under DNV and since December 25th 2009 holding a “Safety Management Certificate” issued by Lloyd’s Register. She is capable of carrying oil products as well as crude oil. A more detailed description of the vessel is available here.
Almi Spirit has continued participating in the Taurus Tankers pool (link opens in new window) serving the oil industry under the management of Almi Tankers S.A.
