Almi Tankers S.A. is very proud to announce that on November 20th, 2014, the second VLCC of its newbuilding project, the M/T Hercules Voyager, was delivered to her owners at DSME’s Okpo Shipyard, and was subsequently delivered to her long-term charterers, Chevron.  This 319,000 DWT tanker was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd (DSME) to the highest industry standards.
This delivery marks the successful completion of Almi Tankers’ newbuilding project, which started in 2011 with the delivery of the first of ten Suezmaxes and two VLCCs from DSME.
The Hercules Voyager was designed in accordance to the latest regulations and industry requirements in order to satisfy customer needs, therefore special emphasis was placed on creating an environmentally friendly design. The vessel is among the most Eco-friendly ships worldwide, designed with our responsibility to safeguard the environment in mind.
Among other eco-friendly technologies on board, the Hercules Voyager is equipped with the MAN HHI 7G80ME-C9.2 Green-type engine and OceanSaver’s Filtration & Electrodialysis Ballast Water Treatment System. The G-type is an ultra long stroke engine, which, in conjunction with a larger diameter propeller, offers significant fuel savings and produces less emissions than engines with the same output, thus classifying it as one of the most environmentally efficient propulsion systems.  Almi Tankers recognises the need to consistently and continuously improve performance, especially in environmental issues. Therefore, all vessels in Almi Tankers’ fleet will always be equipped with top of the line technologies to enhance safety and ensure the best possible protection of the environment. The vessel specifications reflect Almi Tankers’ aim of ensuring reliable and efficient operation throughout the vessel’s life.
The Hercules Voyager flies the Bahamian flag and is classed under ABS.
